ASPHALT HOT MIX PLANT
A hot mix plant produces Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) by combining aggregates (like stone and sand) with bitumen at high temperatures and mixing them with minerals andfillers. This mixture is used primarily for road construction. The plant consists of components like aggregate bins, a drying drum forheating, a mixing unit, bitumen and fuel storage, an air pollution control system, and a loading facility, all working together under automated control.
HOW IT WORKS:
1. Aggregate Storage and Feeding:
Cold aggregates are stored in aggregate bins and fed into the plant.
2. Drying and Heating:
Theaggregates pass through a drying drum where they are heated to the requiredhigh temperature.
3. Screening and Weighing:
Heated aggregates are screened to separate them by size, and then weighed in specific proportions.
4.Binder andFiller Addition:
Bitumen (a product of crude oil) is heated and transferred to a weighhopper. Mineral fillers and other additives are also weighed and prepared.
5. Mixing:
All heated components are precisely mixed in the mixing unit to create auniform.
6. Storage and Loading:
The finished HMA is discharged into a storage silo or directly loaded into trucks for transport to construction sites.
7. Pollution Control:
An integrated system, such as a bag filter unit, controls and minimizes air pollution from the plant's operation.
